About Jonathan
‘My Hero’ by Catherine
Every life has a meaning. Everybody has a purpose in life no matter what it is. Some people will never find theirs out. I still don’t know what mine is. I know that it probably isn’t that great but I still have a purpose just like everyone else does. I most likely will not find out for a time. But I do know the meaning of someone else’s. That person is my hero. The person that I look up to and admire. The person that means the most, to me anyway. My brother, Jonathan Dale Miller.
He passed a long time ago. Even though I don’t remember him that much, and only have a few memories of him. Some I don’t like that are very painful, and some that stick out of mind that are very loving and caring and happy. When someone says his name, or mentions him, or says something about him that reminds me of him, I have an image that makes me cry that just isn’t happy. But most of them are, and when I think of him I think of his purpose before and after he passed.
When he was alive, he showed everyone that you should treat each other with respect. That you shouldn’t be rude. I think though that many of us forget that, and that we don’t realize that we need to be nice. Why say something that would hurt you to other people? And also the one that sticks out in my mind the most is that we need to appreciate what we have before it’s gone. Many of us forget how special something is until it’s gone. Then you don’t have it any more. I realized this about five years later when the most important thing to me disappeared. What I did know is that my brother was gone. And that I would never see him ever again.
After he passed, about four years later, I thought that it was somewhat my fault, like I could have done something that would saved him, to keep him alive. Buut I realize that I couldn’t have, but God did have a purpose. See my brother, Jonathan, saved other lives, other people. He fed them, and gave children 0 – 18 gifts and food at Christmas and Thanksgiving that usually didn’t get anything or little.
This foundation was started when Jonathan had a wish of anything that he wanted. He said “I want to give children toys at Christmas that usually don’t get anything, and give them food.” Nobody believed that this was what he wanted. People thought that he would want something material. But that was his wish. And then Jonathan’s Foundation was official shortly after he signed his name for the last time.
Jonathan may not be anybody famous like a movie or a rock star, but he is my brother and I am, and will always be proud to say it. He was very thoughtful and cared little for himself and more about others and wanted to make them happy and give them what they wanted. And he fed the hungry and was generous, unselfish, caring, loving, and special. That is why he is my hero.
‘What I Think Heaven Is’ by Jonathan Miller
I think Heaven is a beautiful place up in the clouds, better than here, better than where anybody lives. I think that when you get there, metal gates open and your angel or God’s angel takes you to God. And then you get to meet God. After that you talk for the rest of the day and then an angel blesses you. You’re always happy, never sad. You always are good and never fight and always get along.
And that’s what I think Heaven is.
